In this session:

  • Understand basic hand functions and development of hand skills.
  • Know what are the pre-writing skills and pre-requisites for writing.
  • Gain knowledge about different developmental stages of pre-writing skills.
  • Apply various activities to develop pre-writing skills.
  • Learn foundation skills of handwriting.
  • Identify common handwriting difficulties, and its causes.
  • Gain some ideas and learn some strategies for children with handwriting difficulties.

Dynamic Assessment of Learning Potential

Date: 24-27 June 2019
Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Open to: Psychologists, SPED Teachers, Early Interventionists and Speech & Language Therapists

The focus is on DA of learning potential and on cognitive intervention processes following the assessment. This 4‐days workshop will be experientially oriented with emphasis on  demonstrations with children, simulation with participants, and supervised assessment experiences with test materials. It covers testing procedures, scoring methods, applications for cognitive intervention, interpretation of results and research findings validating the DA approach.

Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display Introductory Workshop

Date: 3-4 June 2019
Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Venue: Level 4, CPAS Training Room
Open to: Therapists, Special Education Teachers, Early Interventionists,
Psychologists, and other professionals working with persons with multiple disabilities

This two day course will demonstrate the use of a Pragmatic Organization Dynamic Display (PODD) approach developed by Gayle Porter (Melbourne, Australia). Generic templates for multi-page “light tech” communication books are carefully designed to support genuine communication for a variety of functions throughout the day.
