Introduction to Fundamental Movement Skills

Date: 15 September 2018, Saturday
Time: 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Venue: Level 4, CPAS Training Room
Facilitator: Saudi Tan is the Head of Curriculum and Chief Facilitator for the FUN Start, MOVE smart FMS introductory workshop. She has more than 10 years of experience as a physical education teacher and fitness coach who enjoys working with young children and youths.
Open to: public, parents, caregivers, foreign domestic workers, interventionists and teachers

Workshop Objectives:

  • To introduce learners to the key FMS in young children
  • To enable learners with the skills and knowledge to support their children in developing proficient motor skills
  • To facilitate FMS in their natural setting (home) using inexpensive equipment or readily available recycled materials from our daily environment
  • Key learning areas: Play, Motor Skills, Communication, Language and Cognitive Skills

Specific Strategies for Facilitating Receptive Language

Target group: Interventionists and Teachers

Participants will be able to:

  • learn what receptive language is and the norms of receptive language;
  • identify a person’s level of receptive language;
  • understand ways to encourage the development of receptive language for communication;
  • incorporate receptive language strategies within the home and classroom setting.

Communication Using AAC

Date: 9 November 2018, Friday
Time: 9:00 am – 11:30 am
Venue: Level 4, CPAS Training Room
Trainer: Ms Teo Yafen, Senior Speech Therapist
Open to: public, parents, caregivers, foreign domestic workers, interventionists and teachers

Participants will be able to:

  • learn what is AAC and the benefits of using AAC for communication;
  • recognize persons who can benefit from AAC;
  • understand ways to encourage the use of AAC for communication;
  • incorporate AAC within a classroom setting
  • identify the range of AAC equipment available for loan via CPAS Equipment Loan and Trial Library.
