Teachers’ Day 2017
Recipients of the six School Staff Awards during Teachers’ Day
Both teachers and students celebrated Teachers’ Day at CPAS School with enthusiasm on 30 August. The day started with students from the various programmes performing for their teachers. It was a day of delight and touching moments for the teachers to see students performing and reciting poems to honour and appreciate them for their guidance and care.
Talented teachers and School staff also made the stage come alive with their dance and songs. A montage was shared, dedicated to the teachers’ zealous efforts in their classrooms and school activities.
The highlight of the day was when the School Principal, Mrs Koh, presented the staff awards to honour six staff for their dedication and outstanding contributions. These staff were recognised in the six different awards namely the Most Generous Staff award, Most Caring Staff award, Most Diligent Staff award, Most Creative Staff award, Most Cheerful staff award and Most Helpful Staff award.
This heart-warming Teachers’ Day celebration ended with delectable vegetarian lunch for all students, staff and caregivers.
Teachers’ Day 2016
In many countries, Teacher’s Day is a special day for the appreciation of teachers, and may include celebrations to honour them for their special contributions in a particular school in general. The date on which Teacher’s Day is celebrated varies from country to country. Teacher’s Day in Singapore is celebrated annually on the first Friday in the month of September. It is an occasion for celebrating and enjoying the relationship between all school staff and students. CPAS school had its mini Teachers’ Day celebration this year in both morning and afternoon sessions on Thursday, 1st September 2016. It was a simple celebration where all staff and students gathered in the hall to enjoy live music from the very talented CPAS Combo Band and listened to poems presented sincerely by our students. There were a special dedicated movie trailer made by the IT CCA Club and a moving montage prepared by our very own teacher, Mr Jega for all staff. Our Principal, Mrs Koh-Lim Ai Lay, presented a token to all school staff and for the very first time, she awarded staff in 6 different categories voted by our fellow colleagues.
The 6 staff awards are namely the
- Most Generous Staff award
- Most Caring Staff award
- Most Diligent Staff award
- Most Creative Staff award
- Most Cheerful staff award
- Most Helpful staff award
In sum, that day was not only meant for pure enjoyment but it was also a day of learning for all staff and students to reflect on our commitment in special education. As Mr Wong Siew Hoong, Director-General of Education said in his Teacher’s Day message,” Reflection allows us to consciously think through our work while we continue to find new ways to engage our students effectively.”
