Total Defence Day 2017

Prior to Total Defence Day this year, students enjoyed an outing to the Singapore Discovery Centre where the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) Total Defence Day Exhibition was held. Students participated in a variety of activities including a rescue dog show, hands on fire extinguishing exercise, an earthquake simulator. Many also took pictures with the SCDF vehicles on display. Thereafter, students were treated to a movie and went for the ‘Stronger Together’ exhibition to further increase their understanding on the significance of Total Defence Day in Singapore.

On 15 February 2017, the School conducted the Total Defence Day Observance Ceremony . Police officers from the Singapore Police Force spoke to the students on how to be safe. They also had hands on experience trying out the various police equipment such as the police shield, walkie-talkie, bullet proof vest and baton. During this ceremony, the results of the Total Defence Day Tote Bag Design Competition were also announced and the winning classes walked away with attractive prizes kindly sponsored by the Singapore Police Force. Students also participated in a quiz on Total Defence Day. After the event, students were given the opportunity to have their photos taken with the police vehicle, police officers wearing the police costumes on display. All in all, it was an enriching and fun-filled day!
