Performing Arts – CCA

Performing Arts photo

Through the Performing Arts CCA, students are introduced to various instruments like the xylophone, drums, cymbals,
shakers etc.

Under the guidance of an instructor they use instruments to play various pieces of music.

Through active participation, students are enriched in the social, academic, intellectual, cultural, democratic,
civic and aesthetic domains.

Objectives
  • Enhance students’ experience and understanding in music and dance beyond students’ and parents’
    expectations
  • Equip students with a holistic growth as well as to develop the various facets of the individual student’s
    personality
  • Realise the hidden potential of the students’ performance in music & dance
Criteria

Students should:

  • Be able to listen, understand, follow, and carry out instructions
  • Follow rhythm tempo of music beats, follow dance steps and participate in singing
  • Cooperate with others around him/her to perform together using  musical instruments
  • Decipher left from right and not exhibit challenging behavior (e.g. disturbing others, refusal to follow
    instructions, disrupting lessons, etc)
  • Maintain regular attendance (75% attendance)

Singapore Health Quality Service Awards 2020

14th January 2020 at NUS University Cultural Centre

The students of CCA Performing Arts were invited to perform at the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards 2020 to honour healthcare professionals. The event was held at the NUS University Cultural Centre and was graced by Guest of Honour, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat. The students performed a total of two items namely “Happy” by Pharrell Williams and “Count On Me” by Bruno Mars.
CPAS Charity Livestream

5th September 2020 at CPAS School

The students pre-recorded two live performances for the CPAS Charity Livestream. They performed “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King and “Lemon Tree” by Fool’s Garden.

CPAS Charity Dinner

3rd August 2019 at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) 

The performance by students from the Performing Arts CCA was one of the highlights during the CPAS Charity Dinner at Marina Bay Sands on 3 August. The students performed “Canon in C’’, which was a music track from The Arc. They also sang the song “True Colours’’ with lyrics by singer Cyndi Lauper.

Aerospace Partners Golf Tournament

16 August 2019 at Tanah Merah Club

It was a very exciting day for students of the CCA Performing Arts who performed at the Tanah Merah Country Club on 16 August. They spent the evening performing “Canon in C’’ and crooning to “Count on me” with lyrics by singer Bruno Mars. Their performance was received with huge applause from the audience.

Visit by Tony Memmel & US Embassy

16 August 2019 at CPASS

Under the United States (U.S.) Embassy Singapore Exchange Programme, the students were visited by the staff of U.S. Embassy and Tony Memmel, a singer-songwriter who taught himself how to play the guitar with one hand. He conducted an adaptive guitar workshop for the students and everyone had fun playing and singing together.

Giocoso Concert

24 August 2019 at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre

The Giocoso Concert was held at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre on 24 August. Students from the Performing Arts CCA made a special appearance at the concert alongside the Da Kapo Late Starters Orchestra which is a group of musicians from different walks of life, who took up learning a musical instrument in the later part of their lives. Together, they celebrated the spirit of those who had overcome obstacles to make music a part of their lives.

Steptember Fundraising Campaign

29 August 2019 at the School Hall 

Steptember kick started in Singapore at CPAS. Our students were very proud to showcase their talents by performing at the inauguration of the month-long event which had thousands of people around the world taking on the challenge to move 10,000 steps a day, or its equivalent, for 28 days starting on 3 September.

Extra Ordinary Celebration

8 November 2019 at University Cultural Centre Hall (NUS) 

An Extra-Ordinary Celebration 2019 was the Singapore’s largest inclusive concert that was successfully held on 8 and 9 November. Themed “Home, Heart and Hope”, the event celebrated the artistic abilities of the performers who took to the stage in 24 inclusive teams. The event brought together more than 900 performers, 5,000 in the audience, and nearly 13,000 online viewers. Students from the CCA Performing Arts combined with Casuarina Primary School’s Concert Band in performing the items ‘Count On Me’ and ‘Happy’.

Vintage Car Rally

19 November 2019 at Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) 

The students from the CCA Performing Arts were invited to the Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) where they performed ‘Feliz Navidaz’ & ‘Last Christmas’ for the Vintage Car Rally. In the true spirit of Christmas, the students were also treated to a vintage car ride after the event!
