Early Intervention Programme for Infants & Children
The CPAS Early Intervention Programme for Infants & Children (EIPIC) provides early intervention for children with one or more disabilities, and prepares them for admission into either a Special Education school or mainstream school. The programme was established on 1 April 2005.
Curriculum domains covered by the programme include:
- Cognitive skills
- Adaptive skills
- Social skills
- Fine & Gross motor skills
- Social-communication skills
OBJECTIVES
- To maximise the developmental growth of each child by providing holistic and individual developmental programmes for children 6 years old or below, diagnosed with one or more disabilities
- To provide family-centred support and training for the child
- To provide rehabilitative, therapeutic and supportive services
- To provide integration support to mainstream preschool
TRANS-DISCIPLINARY INTERVENTION
A Trans-Disciplinary (Trans-D) Approach is integrated into the curriculum, where a multi-disciplinary team consisting of EIPIC Interventionist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Pathologist, Social Worker, Psychologist and parents/caregivers collaborate to provide holistic education and support to help the child maximise his or her developmental growth.
ECHO Framework
According to the Early Childhood Development Agency, EIPIC uses the ECO Framework. Early Childhood Holistic Outcomes (ECHO) is an early intervention service framework that helps a child attain functional outcomes on top of domain mastery. You can learn more about the ECHO Framework here:
