Psychological Services
Our Psychology Department aims to aid all clients in their ability to meaningfully engage and participate in home, school and community settings. In doing so, we provide services in the classroom, at home and in the community, and in assessments for transitioning from schools.
For SPED, in accordance with Ministry of Education directives, our Psychology Department uses the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach in our practice. For EIPIC, in line with Early Childhood Development Agency directives, we follow the Early Childhood Holistic Outcomes (ECHO) framework in our practice.
Our Assessment Services Include:
- Initial assessments for students coming into the EIPIC or school programmes
- School Readiness Assessments (SRA) for students graduating from our EIPIC programme
- Assisted Deputyship Application Programme (ADAP) Assessments for students graduating from our Special Education school programmes.
Our Capacity Building Services Include:
- For students, our Psychology Department works to assist both in the classroom and within the broader community. This support is provided through individual or group, push-in or pull-out sessions. The goal is to help build cooperative and adaptive behaviours.
- For teachers, we focus on staff in-service training, Trans-Disciplinary meetings, individual consultations for respective class/students and helping staff understand the behavioural/learning/social emotional/functioning profile of students.
- For caregivers, we work together with parents to examine parenting styles that suits their child to build cooperative behaviours at home, building self-care practises for themselves and helping caregivers develop an understanding of their child’s learning and functioning profile.
Projects
Our Psychology Department engages in activities such as conducting studies, Sibling workshops (Stronger Together), Caregiver workshops (You Never Walk Alone) and Staff wellbeing projects.
