Boccia is a target sport. The aim of this Niche CCA is for students to throw, roll or kick the ball as close as possible to a white target ball (the jack).
The game can be played either individually, in pairs or as a team of three. It requires a high degree of muscle control, accuracy, concentration and tactical awareness from the Niche CCA participants.
Boccia is a suitable Niche CCA for our students with cerebral palsy and those who have severe physical disability or neurological conditions such as muscular dystrophy, spinal bifida. Boccia can be played both recreationally and competitively.
Students in the Boccia CCA are formally classified according to their conditions before any competition. Athletes with similar conditions and abilities will be classified into the same class.
The table below shows a brief description of the four classifications:

Objectives
- Instill the three school values of Confidence, Respect and Resilience
- Promote good sportsmanship, nurture leadership, encourage competitive spirit, teamwork and foster independence through planned activities
- Improve coordination, muscular strength, control, concentration and challenging the mind to think strategically
- Build teamwork and cooperation amongst peers
- Promote Boccia as a form of recreational and/or competitive sport
Criteria
Students should:
- Be able to understand and follow 1 to 2-steps instructions
- Have a sense of direction (eg. far, near, left and right)
- Have an how an interest in sports
- Have good or normal eyesight with or without glasses
- Be able to identify colors (white, red and blue) and follow simple game rules

Our students and teachers from Boccia CCA attended the Singapore Boccia Special Training Workshop conducted by renowned Boccia Coach, Mr Kwon Cheolhyeon (Paralympian Coach). Coach Kwon shared valuable knowledge on how to improve their skills. It was truly a valuable experience.

Students from the CCA Boccia participated in their first three-day and two-night training camp. Through the activities, students were given the chance to display the school values and fulfilled the school belief that “Everyone can serve”.

The CCA Boccia hosted 24 students from Elias Park Primary School on 1 November. Students of CPASS helped to host the students and gave them an insight to Boccia through demonstration and a series of modified Boccia games. It was a fun and meaningful session for both schools and we looked forward to host them again next year!

Students from the CCA Boccia participated in their first 3-day CPASS Boccia Championship 2019 on 11, 18 and 25 October. They tried their best and gave the audience a great showcase of exciting Boccia skills in their respective matches. Students Aloysius Gan from Class Eagle 1A, Sow Zi Xuan from Class Eagle 3A and Aaryll Ryan Das from Class Eagle 7A emerged winners from their respective categories.

Three students from the CCA Boccia were invited to take part in Meridian Junior College’s (MJC) annual Youth Connect Event. They were Elijah Lam (Eagle 6A), Edara Vasishta Choudhary (Eagle 9A) and Bryan Cheong (Owl 10A). The main purpose for this event was to allow their J1 students to interact, experience and have a deeper understanding of the different groups of people in our community.

Tiger Balm Singapore Boccia Open

Four nations – Singapore, Malaysia, Korea and Thailand participated in the tournament hosted by the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC). Our student Aloysius Gan, Eagle 10A, did us proud by representing Singapore in the Tiger Balm Singapore Boccia Open. Not only did he win a bronze medal in BC3 Pair but he also gained valuable experience when competing against other athletes from different countries.

This year, six athletes (Aloysius Gan, Eagle 10A; Gan Sun Ling, Eagle 4/5A; Seri Nuratiqah, Eagle 6A; Juraimi Abudallah, Eagle 6A; Edara Vasishta Choudhary, Eagle 9A & Soh Zhi Xuan, Eagle 9A) from the school participated in the Get ActiveSG! National Games 2018. Facing stiff competition from other schools, our athletes made our school proud by winning 3 medals for the:

Boccia Friendly Game with Elias Park Primary School
Scheduled to take place on 10 November 2017 at CPAS School Hall, with CPAS School student Boccia players participating in the game.
Through the Performing Arts CCA, students are introduced to various instruments like the xylophone, drums, cymbals,
shakers etc.
Under the guidance of an instructor they use instruments to play various pieces of music.
Through active participation, students are enriched in the social, academic, intellectual, cultural, democratic,
civic and aesthetic domains.
Objectives
- Enhance students’ experience and understanding in music and dance beyond students’ and parents’
expectations - Equip students with a holistic growth as well as to develop the various facets of the individual student’s
personality - Realise the hidden potential of the students’ performance in music & dance
Criteria
Students should:
- Be able to listen, understand, follow, and carry out instructions
- Follow rhythm tempo of music beats, follow dance steps and participate in singing
- Cooperate with others around him/her to perform together using musical instruments
- Decipher left from right and not exhibit challenging behavior (e.g. disturbing others, refusal to follow
instructions, disrupting lessons, etc) - Maintain regular attendance (75% attendance)

The performance by students from the Performing Arts CCA was one of the highlights during the CPAS Charity Dinner at Marina Bay Sands on 3 August. The students performed “Canon in C’’, which was a music track from The Arc. They also sang the song “True Colours’’ with lyrics by singer Cyndi Lauper.

It was a very exciting day for students of the CCA Performing Arts who performed at the Tanah Merah Country Club on 16 August. They spent the evening performing “Canon in C’’ and crooning to “Count on me” with lyrics by singer Bruno Mars. Their performance was received with huge applause from the audience.
Visit by Tony Memmel & US Embassy

Under the United States (U.S.) Embassy Singapore Exchange Programme, the students were visited by the staff of U.S. Embassy and Tony Memmel, a singer-songwriter who taught himself how to play the guitar with one hand. He conducted an adaptive guitar workshop for the students and everyone had fun playing and singing together.
Giocoso Concert
24 August 2019 at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre
The Giocoso Concert was held at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre on 24 August. Students from the Performing Arts CCA made a special appearance at the concert alongside the Da Kapo Late Starters Orchestra which is a group of musicians from different walks of life, who took up learning a musical instrument in the later part of their lives. Together, they celebrated the spirit of those who had overcome obstacles to make music a part of their lives.
Steptember Fundraising Campaign

Steptember kick started in Singapore at CPAS. Our students were very proud to showcase their talents by performing at the inauguration of the month-long event which had thousands of people around the world taking on the challenge to move 10,000 steps a day, or its equivalent, for 28 days starting on 3 September.
Extra Ordinary Celebration
8 November 2019 at University Cultural Centre Hall (NUS)
An Extra-Ordinary Celebration 2019 was the Singapore’s largest inclusive concert that was successfully held on 8 and 9 November. Themed “Home, Heart and Hope”, the event celebrated the artistic abilities of the performers who took to the stage in 24 inclusive teams. The event brought together more than 900 performers, 5,000 in the audience, and nearly 13,000 online viewers. Students from the CCA Performing Arts combined with Casuarina Primary School’s Concert Band in performing the items ‘Count On Me’ and ‘Happy’.

CPAS Graduation Night
Students from the CCA Performing Arts will be performing at the CPAS Graduation Night on 17 November 2017.
CPASS Helang group is an extension of the Scouts CCA which provides a platform for self-development and self-discovery. Scouts will aim to learn and demonstrate knowledge of basic scouting skills and mark achievements in areas such as camp craft, fun activities, citizenship and improving the environment.
While we follow the progress and proficiency badge scheme, there will be various modifications and adaptations to instructions and environment to suit the needs of the special scouts. We aim to create a stimulating environment, which prepares boys and girls to face and solve problems through courage, teamwork and creativity. Scouts will be given opportunities to work as a team, exercise responsibility, serve others and even lead their peers.
Our scouts are given many opportunities to participate in activities, events and camps organised by CCA or extension scout community. With this exposure, we hope to develop our scouts into motivated, independent and adaptable individuals who are able to maintain harmonious relationship with others and be a contributing member of the society.

- Instil scouting values of discipline, responsibility, respect and courage
- Develop the love and respect for nature in our scouts

Students should:

Physical Training Sessions
Term 3 at Classroom 7
To build the students physical strength and endurance, we started the physical training sessions in Term 3. For an hour on every Friday morning, the scouts complete their walking and station activities.
Indoor Learning Sessions

In light of the Covid-19 situation, we focused on activities we could do in the classroom. The scouts decided on completing their Cook badge in Term 3. We had a theory lesson on kitchen safety and hygiene during food preparation before trying out several recipes every week.

Singapore Scouts Bicentennial Trek 2019
15 February 2019 at Changi Beach Park
As part of Singapore Bicentennial marking the 200th anniversary of Sir Stamford Raffles’ arrival in Singapore, our CPASS Scouts did a trek to Changi Beach. It was one of the commemorative activities that had the scouts trekking across Singapore. Throughout the trek, CPASS Scouts learnt about the Changi Beach Massacre and located the monument at Changi Beach Park.
Singapore Scouts Jobs Week

The Scout Job Week took place from 15 to 30 March this year. The objective was to ingrain a hardworking spirit and to teach scouts the value of honest work. CPASS Scouts walked around the association building and offered to help with chores in return for donations. They diligently wiped tables/chairs and swept the floors.
National Day Parade 2019

CPASS started off the National Day Celebration with a solemn observance ceremony. The CPASS Scouts held the National flag with dignity and marched with pride showing on their faces. It was no easy feat as they had to remember their steps and coordinate together as a group while marching. They had truly demonstrated and embraced the school values of ‘Resilience’ and ‘Confidence’.
Scouts Camp 2019

The annual Scouts Camp was held in Term 4 of 2019. The scouts demonstrated the school values of confidence, resilience and respect through the various activities such as grocery shopping, food preparation, cooking, tent pitching and swimming. The scouts attained their Camper, Cook and Swimmer badges after the two-day overnight camp in school.

2 and 9 March 2018 in CPASS
Scouts from all over Singapore, including our Helang Scouts took part in this annual Job Week in March. They did chores like wiping tables, shredding unwanted papers, sweeping and mopping the floor in exchange for a token sum to raise funds. These opportunities helped to instil values of honest work and dignity of labour in them.

Dragon Boating

Track & Field, Swimming and Scouts CCA participated in a Dragon Boating Orientation Programme. During this collaboration, they got to know each other better and even challenged themselves to preserve when the rowing got tough, thus building up greater self-confidence.

Hike at Coney Island

All the schools from the east area sent their Scouts representatives to participate in this hiking activity which was held on a Saturday. Two teachers (Mr Alvin and Ms Divya) and two of our senior scouts (Adrian Chan Beng Heam, Eagle 7A and Jireh Chua De Zhi, Eagle 4/5A) took part in this event. The meeting point was at the Punggol Settlement. Scouts, from the schools in the east, met and made friends. They were asked to go in groups to perform certain tasks together and they had loads of fun.

UOB Collaboration

Volunteers from UOB collaborated with the students of CCA Scouts and Special Arts in an art project. The students had to learn to work with these volunteers and ask for help whenever and wherever it was needed.

Charity Draw Donations is a yearly affair for the scouts community. Students were given a set of tickets to sell to raise funds. This activity has instilled confidence in the scouts as they asked for donations by confidently explaining the purpose of this donation drive.

Job Week 2017
Together with scouts from all over Singapore, CPASS Helang scouts participated in the Job Week on 24 March 2017. They completed chores like wiping surfaces and watering the plants in exchange for a token sum. This activity helped to instil the values of honest work and dignity of labour. A total of over one hundred dollars was raised during the job week.

During the Serigala Campfire at MINDS Towner Gardens School, CPAS School put up a performance, with Kamilia Syuhada, Eagle 3B, Chan Benng Heam Adrian, Eagle 7A, and their teachers sang the song “Try Everything”. The spirit of team camaraderie shone through as all the scouts sang campfire songs together with gusto.

Special Arts offers students with interest in art to learn useful skills from our art instructor, Mr Patrick Yee.It provides a platform for students to showcase their talent and expand their knowledge in art and art-making through different media by means of painting, mosaic making, silk printing, 3-D sculpture with clay & paper mache, etc.
Students also embark on field trips to art exhibitions of local and overseas artists to build their appreciation and awareness of art around them.

Special Arts CCA Showcased at SYF 2025 Exhibition
In July 2025, CPASS East Special Arts CCA participated in the Singapore Youth Festival Art Exhibition themed “Tiny Wonders, Big Ideas.” Out of 500 submissions nationwide, 112 artworks were selected for display at the National Gallery Singapore, including CPASS East’s piece, “Singapore in Motion.” The artwork showcased iconic landmarks and celebrated Singapore’s innovation and culture. Students Joanne Ngoh Pei Sing and Celine Hooi Ji Woo represented the school, accompanied by Ms Nurul Asyiqin Abdullah and Vice-Principal Ms Suzana Ahmed. The exhibition, officiated by Senior Minister of State for Education Mr David Neo, was a proud and meaningful milestone for the school.
Special Arts CCA Joins Artbrellah Project Launch
On 23 August 2025, our Special Arts CCA was invited to the launch of the Artbrellah Project at Toa Payoh Interchange — a meaningful initiative combining art, accessibility, and social responsibility. We are proud to share that Joanne Ngoh Pei Sing’s artwork, Tree of Love, was selected to be printed on umbrellas as part of this project.

VSA’s 16th Annual Art Competition

Mohamed Aiman Bin Abdullah’s (Eagle 7A) art piece was selected as one of the commendable entries in the competition. Winning entries were displayed at the Art Exhibition held at the Forum the Shopping Mall from 21 to 30 September 2018.

Arts Jamming
Students in the Special Arts CCA participated in the Arts Jamming Event on 11 March 2017. This event was held at the Red Box as part of the Youth Corps Service Week (11- 18 March 2017). Students had the opportunity to create art pieces together with the Guest of Honour, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, Ms Grace Fu and students from other schools.

VSA’s 15th Annual Art Competition for Children and Youths with Disabilities
 |
Four art pieces submitted by our CCA Special Arts students for Very Special Arts (VSA)’s 15th Annual Art Competition for Children and Youths with Disabilities were selected as commendable entries.
These entries were showcased at an Art Exhibition held at Forum the Shopping Mall from 15 to 24 September 2017.
Congratulations to our budding artists, Muhd Irfan Mustaqim Bin Abdul Jalil from Eagle 5A, Mohamed Aiman Bin Abdullah from Eagle 6A, Siti Raudhah Jamaludin from Eagle 8A and Muhd Amzar Bin Mohamad Azahar from Eagle 8B.

At the Swimming CCA, Students will learn swimming and motor skills under the guidance of professional coaches.
They will also pick up vital skills such as
- competitive strokes
- cardio-muscular endurance
- water endurance
In addition, they would develop necessary socio-emotional skills such as teamwork, discipline and character development.
There are two tracks in the CPASS Swimming team, namely the non-competitive and competitive team.
Non-Competitive Track
Our non-competitive focuses on achieving water confidence, swimming independently, and physical fitness.
Competitive Track
Our competitive swimmers would be trained to possibly represent our school in local swimming competitions organised by the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC).
For instance, in 2015, our students participated in the National Special Schools Swimming Championship, as well as the SPH National Para Swimming Championships.
Objectives
- Educate students on the importance of water safety
- Equip students with essential skills for swimming and survival
- Develop confidence and independence in the swimming pool
- Learn general and deep-end water safety (Swim Safer Stage 1)
Criteria
Students should:
- Not have a history of epilepsy (fits)
- Be able to follow verbal instructions independently
Short-listed students would go through a trial session, where they would be assessed by our swimming coaches on their confidence, basic strokes, endurance and stamina.

Haw Par National Youth Para Swimming Championship 2025
On 12 April 2025, CPASS East Swimming CCA competed in the Haw Par National Youth Para Swimming Championship. We proudly welcomed Joel Wong from Eagle 23A, who made a remarkable debut by winning gold in the 50-metre breaststroke after years of dedicated training. Two experienced athletes, Siti Nur Iman and Mohamad Shan Rusyaidi, also represented the school, with Shan securing gold in the 50-metre freestyle. Although Iman was disqualified due to a false start, she displayed admirable perseverance and sportsmanship. Congratulations to all athletes for their dedication and for representing CPASS East with pride.

Term 2 & 3 at Cpas Track
Due to Covid-19 situation, swimming activities had been replaced with dryland workouts which helped to improve the students’ endurance, strength and coordination.

The swimmers were finally able to go back into the water after two terms of dryland training. The students were back to their usual training sessions of distance kicking and stroke corrections, etc.

Haw Par Youth Para Swimming Championship
27 September 2019 at Our Tampines Hub
5 students from CPASS competed in the swimming competition held at Our Tampines Hub. This year, they also had the honour to be introduced to Mr Baey Yam Keng, MP of Tampines North GRC. The students introduced themselves and shared about their feelings & experiences participating in the para swimming competition.

CCA Track & Field & Swimming Overseas Trip 2019
19 to 22 June 2019 in Nakhon Nayok, Thailand
Together with students from Track and Field CCA, 5 students from the CPASS swim team went to Nakhon Nayok, Thailand for a 4 days 3 night adventure camp in June 2019. For most of the students, it was their first time taking a plane to go on an overseas trip without their families. The students displayed confidence and resilience as they participated in various activities such as mountain trekking, abseiling and flying fox. They also had the chance to try some local Thai delights!

Winning medals is not the only goal for our CCA:
We aim to promote participation and facilitate building of sport skills, and sportsmanship through training and competitions.
Students learn an array of skills such as agility and stamina training, start positions, 60m, 100m and 200 meter run, wheelchair race and field event such as adaptive shot-put and javelin.
Objectives
- Equip students with skills for the different track and field games and events
- Develop each student’s potential, mental resilience and foster competitive spirit
- Develop confidence, self-esteem, teamwork and sportsmanship
Criteria
Students should:
- Be able to listen and follow instructions
- Have passion for running and enjoy sports
- Be able to endure training under the sun.
- Be independent in toileting and are able to wheel independently and have a sense of direction (for students who are wheelchair-users)
Achievements in 2025
Para Athletics Inter-School Championships 2025 – Track & Field CCA
On 17 May, eleven students from the Track and Field CCA represented the school at the Para Athletics Inter-School Championships held at Chua Chu Kang Stadium. Competing against athletes from eight SPED and mainstream schools, students participated in events such as sprinting, shot put, and long jump. Despite challenging weather conditions, the team showed great determination and sportsmanship. A standout performance came from Chrislyn Rae, who won gold in the long jump. Overall, the team delivered an impressive performance, winning 15 medals and retaining the Best Performing School Trophy, making the school immensely proud.

CCA Track and Field
Training sessions for students of CCA Track and Field in CPASS have continued in the midst of Covid-19 situation. Sports and physical activities are vital in ensuring that students are able to sustain their stamina and fitness during the challenging period. Training sessions have taken new routines for coach, teachers and students. New routines such as physical distancing, the minimized sharing of equipment, wiping down of sports equipment as well as hand sanitisation are maintained during the sessions. Everyone’s safety and well-being are ensured at all time.

CCA Track & Field & Swimming Overseas Trip 2019
- 19 June to 22 June 2019 in Nakhon Nayok, Thailand
- 11 students from both Swimming and Track and Field CCA participated in the adventure overseas trip to Nakhon Nayok, Thailand. 6 students were from Track & Field CCA. It was definitely an adventure trip that challenged the students out of their comfort zone.

For students under the Functional Programme
Photography Club aims to encourage students to develop keen observation skills of their space and environment, using photography as a medium to tell their story and communicate their ideas.
Students are given opportunities to take photos outdoors within the school vicinity and during planned learning journeys.
Objectives
- Acquire basic understanding of camera features and handling
- Apply basic technical skills to shoot photographs representing several themes
- Apply basic photo editing skills
Criteria
Students should:
- Be able to follow at least two-step instructions
For students under the High Support Programme
Students learn to play musical instruments, participate in wheelchair dancing and watch musicals to be inspired as well as gather ideas for different dances.
The club aims to support fine and gross motor development as well as stimulate attention, cooperation, sensory processing, visual skills, speech and language development, and impulse control.
Through the dance segment, students develop creativity and self-expression, while rhythm helps them establish the connection between sound and the vibration of movement.

Criteria
- Students should able to benefit from stimulation from auditory and kinesthetic inputs
- Students with motor disabilities can be assisted hand-over-hand to participate in the activities

Students learn to improve on their cognitive, social, and emotional development through sensory activities. They learn to engage in positive interactions with the world around.
In a fun and interactive manner, students work towards building essential skills with their bodies and better neurological systems.
Objective
- Explore different sensory textures and activities
- Develop manipulative motor skills
- Develop cognitive skills
Criteria
- Students with motor disabilities can be assisted hand-over-hand to participate in the activities
- Students who need to be stimulated through various sensory activities
Students will learn to have fun in water play activities. They will learn to acquire improvements in fine motor skills and hand-eye co-ordination. It can also be educational as students learn about gravity, density, capacity and temperature. Water play activities will be conducted inside the school swimming pool or the splash pool.
Objectives
- Develop motor skills.
- Develop social skills.
Criteria
- Water activities must always be closely supervised by an adult, therefore every participant must be accompanied by only one caregiver or parent. If there is no accompanying adult, the student will sit out the water play session for that day.
- Student must not have medical complications that will endanger himself during the activities
Students will learn to improve on their cognitive, social, and emotional development through drama in multisensory spaces. They will learn to engage in positive interactions with people and their surroundings. In a fun and interactive manner through dramatization, students will work towards building better social-interactive skills.
Objectives:
- Explore different sensory textures and activities
- Develop communication skills
- Develop cognitive skills
Criteria:
Students in the High Support Programme who need to be encouraged to interact with others as well as to be stimulated through various sensory activities
Students learn to tell stories and express themselves through drama and music.
Simple drama exercises, story time and short skits will help students develop their language and socio-emotional skills. The opportunity to perform in front of an audience will also help the students to boost their self-confidence and express themselves better.
Drama is also more impactful when paired with music. Students will move to different music and learn to convey emotions through their bodies.
Objectives:
- Develop confidence in dramatic play.
- Develop turn-taking skills.
- Develop language skills.
- Develop socio-emotional skills.
Criteria:
Students in the Functional Programme and should be able to follow one-step instructions.
