Learn About Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Through Emma #FriendsOfSuzy #AutismAwareness

This campaign has been created in support of World Autism Awareness Month in April.

Meet Emma, she is turning 7 this year. Since 2018, Emma has been attending the Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC) at Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS). The programme aims to prepare the students for their next phase of education, either at a mainstream or special needs school.

Like Emma, many of her fellow schoolmates in the programme are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ASD is a lifelong condition commonly diagnosed in childhood. Children with ASD may find it hard to relate to others socially and have problems with communication and behaviour.

When Emma first joined EIPIC, she could not speak and was prone to meltdowns. Thanks to targeted therapy and intervention from our team of dedicated teachers, Emma has made much improvements in her time at CPAS. She is now a more confident girl and is able to express her needs.

ASD is a complex developmental condition that lies on a spectrum. This means that it affects each person differently. There are many others like Emma. Together, let us build a more inclusive world for persons with Autism.

Your generous donations will help to fund access to essential services and programmes such as EIPIC at CPAS.
